A "big out-of-this-world surprise" is on the cards for the annual Kildare County Show which takes place in Athy on 20th June. The show office was officially opened in Athy last week.
Brian Ashmore and Derek Shelly of Raggett Homes Athy were on hand to perform the official opening of the office. Raggett Homes are sponsoring the office which is located at 10 Leinster Street in Athy. Many members of this year's committee were at the official opening of the office, including show secretary Teresa McKenna, who will be in attendance during nomal office hours.
Athy girl Charmaine Kenny, current Rose of Tralee will open the show on Sunday 20th June. President Brian Ashmore thanked the sponsors for their support and said the programme for this year's show was looking very good with everything from Dave's Jungle to the Irish Army "It's the fun place to be for all fathers and their families on Father's Day. The surprise is going to be something," he said.
This year's show will as usual take place at Athy Showgrounds on the afternoon of 20 June. The show will feature everything from live music to dog shows. Cattle, sheep and horses, vintage cars and tractors, a carnival, flower and garden displays, dancers, music and a pipe band. Dave from Dave's jungle will be there with a selection of spiders and snakes.
The showgrounds will be open from 10am and the show will officially begin at 2pm. Entry is €5 and children go free.
