Raggett Construction is planning to develop a mixed-use scheme in Athy in Co Kildare. The company is planning to construct retail, office and residential development space on the site, which is to the rear of Leinster Street. It is also adjacent to the People’s Park.
The planning application seeks permission to construct 6,500 square metres of shops, 440 square metres of offices, 80 apartments, seven duplexes and a 500-space multi-storey car park.
“It is envisaged that the development will ignite the town centre, and go a long way towards combating the current expenditure leakage to surrounding towns,” said developer Michael Raggett of Raggett Construction.
He said that if the scheme were approved, it would create 240 jobs during the construction phase, and around 180 jobs would be created when the centre opened.
Fewer, Harrington, Lawlor + Partners designed the scheme.
