Today Athy is alive with a growing population and a host of new businesses opening in the town. The colourful traditional shops have retained the character of a traditional Irish town whilst also offering an extensive array of boutiques, hotels, restaurants and pubs. There is an excellent range of both primary and secondary schools with a new amalgamated school opening its doors in 2007 and a new community college planned for the near future. For the sport enthusiast Athy benefits from numerous clubs including tennis, rugby, GAA, Soccer and rowing clubs. A brand new state of the art swimming pool is currently under construction.

Kildare

Kildare Shopping Development Kildare County has emerged as one of the most attractive counties and popular destinations in the country. The county prides itself on the high quality of educational, recreational and business facilities and boasts outstanding amenities.

Kildare boasts some of the finest racecourses with the Curragh, Punchestown and Naas race courses. For other outdoor pursuits, Kildare also hosts some of the finest championship golf courses, horse riding, shooting, swimming, football, hurling, rugby and sailing. This maybe one of the reasons why there has been a big influx of people moving to Athy from Dublin while still working in Dublin. The high quality living, the excellent road and rail network and the exceptional value in local housing in comparison to Dublin, makes Athy the ideal family residential location.

Transport

Kildare Shopping Development For commuters, Athy enjoys good rail and bus links to Dublin, Kilkenny, Waterford and surrounding areas. The N78 connects with the M9 and M7 motorways with direct access to the Capital City and Dublin airport. Athy is centrally located and accessible to the major urban centers of Naas, Newbridge, Carlow, Kilkenny and Portlaoise.
